Global Health Protection Programme
The GHPP leverages the core competencies and knowledge of specialised German institutions in the field of public health to support the prevention and management of health crises worldwide.
About the Programme
The GHPP is an initiative of the German Federal Ministry of Health aimed at strengthening global health protection. The programme promotes capacity building worldwide for the prevention and management of pandemics and epidemics and supports partners directly in the event of outbreaks of infectious diseases. To this end, specialised public health institutions from Germany implement practical measures worldwide. The participating specialist institutions from Germany contribute with their core competencies and internationally outstanding expertise. In this way, the programme supports project countries and the international community to better prevent public health crises, identify them at an early stage and manage them together.

Start of Phase II
In January 2023, the second phase of the GHPP started with nearly 40 projects. Alongside new partnership projects, many projects are building upon their successes from the first phase, continuing their strategic partnerships, and collaborating with new partners.
