About the Programme

The GHPP is an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Health to strengthen global health security. The programme supports international capacity development for preventing and managing pandemics and epidemics. To achieve this, specialised German public health institutions implement practical measures on the ground together with their partners. In addition, the projects provide immediate support in response to infectious disease outbreaks. The participating German institutions contribute their respective subject‑matter strengths and outstanding expertise. In doing so, the programme helps Germany, partner countries and the international community to better prevent public health crises, detect them at an early stage and address them jointly.

To be better prepared for future pandemics, strong cross-border cooperation is key. Together with our partners, we are committed to this goal and support international health surveillance and pandemic prevention. Only in this way we can protect the health of people in Germany and worldwide.
